Skills to Advance is a national initiative that provides upskilling and reskilling opportunities to employees in jobs undergoing change and to those currently employed in vulnerable sectors. Skills to Advance aims to equip employees with the skills they need to progress in their current role or to adapt to the changing job market. Skills to Advance helps employers identify skills needs and invest in their workforce by providing subsidised education and training to staff.

Course Content

This programme seamlessly integrates theoretical understanding with hands-on application in the field of industrial asset management, enhanced by digitalisation and associated tools. Participants will explore the core concepts of digital asset measurement and management, including the setup and configuration of CMMS systems – covering asset hierarchy, work order planning, preventive maintenance scheduling, and data standardisation. These principles will then be applied in immersive, scenario-based workshops designed to reflect real-world industrial environments.

The Certificate in Asset Management Digitalisation is designed to enable learners to:

  • Develop their understanding of the principles of asset management and its essential components.

  • Integrate legacy maintenance and device data into a modern digital asset management framework.

  • Interpret EAM (Enterprise Asset Management)/CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) data to analyse fault conditions and generate informed decisions.

  • Utilise configuration and data-presentation tools within EAM/CMMS environments.

  • Apply strategic thinking and asset life cycle perspectives.

  • Demonstrate deployment of Asset Management.

The objectives of this programme are to:

  • Support learners seeking to expand their skill and qualification to facilitate them to work in manufacturing or service industry.

  • Facilitate those currently working within the sector seeking to develop their technical skills and improve performance or seek career advancement by developing their skills and gaining an approved qualification in Asset Management Digitalisation.

  • Enable those who are seeking employment or career mobility and are looking to expand their skills and qualifications to make them industry relevant, ready, and attractive.

On successful completion of this course learners can:

  1. Define the principles of asset management and identify its key components, including the integration of legacy systems within modern digital frameworks.

  2. Set up and configure CMMS/EAM systems, including asset hierarchies, work order workflows, and scheduling parameters, with a focus on data structure and integrity to support reliability engineering, fault analysis, and informed decision-making.

  3. Use digital tools and configuration strategies within asset management systems to optimise data presentation and reduce recurring operational problems.

  4. Apply life cycle and strategic asset management approaches to evaluate investment options while addressing ethical considerations, risks, and potential system biases.

This award of 5 ECTS credits is designed to meet the industry skills shortage of qualified/workforce in the sector of Asset Management Digitalisation in manufacturing and service industries, where business has a requirement to upskill employees, and/or are driven by efficiencies, quality assurance, compliance, industry regulations and safety.
