This course equips the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence dealing with basic electrical troubleshooting techniques.

This course is only available to those currently in employment and partially funded under the Skills to Advance initiative. ​

Skills to Advance is a national initiative that provides upskilling and reskilling opportunities to employees in jobs undergoing change and to those currently employed in vulnerable sectors. Skills to Advance aims to equip employees with the skills they need to progress in their current role or to adapt to the changing job market. Course Content
This course has been designed to provide participants with basic electrical troubleshooting techniques and learners will benefit from having attended the Certificate in Industrial Electrical Safety & Systems. The correct safety procedures to be used in troubleshooting electrical equipment will be explained in detail. The participants will be given real-world scenarios as classroom exercise to reinforce theory. Upon completion of this course, participants should have a basic understanding of electrical troubleshooting techniques used in industry.

Having this knowledge will help each technician develop confidence and professional enthusiasm, therefore, increasing their efficiency. The knowledge that technicians gain from this course will be further expanded by on-job training and practical experience they will receive throughout the duration of their career.

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this course, learners are able to:

Use single line diagrams and control system drawing in faultfinding

Use of electrical testing tools in locating faults

Be able to apply a logical approach to finding a fault in an electrical control circuit

Apply faultfinding aids such as flow charts, system diagrams and circuit diagrams

Appreciate the importance of documenting the maintenance history of a machine
Suitability
Due to Skills to Advance (STA) funding, this course is only available to those in employment.

The course will enable non-electrical personnel the ability to diagnose industrial faults and to carry out repairs/replacement safely, and support learners seeking to expand their skills and qualifications from their craft, or trade, to facilitate them to work in manufacturing.
Delivery
This course is delivered over 2 full days. These are all physical classes at CELTEC, Celbridge, Co. Kildare where learners will gain hands-on experience in working with industial electrical equipment and how to troubleshoot issues.

Learners must be available for all days as this is an intensive course with much content to cover over this period.
Certification
A Certificate of Completion will be issued at the end of the programme.
